Factors affecting the life of the tundish

1. Refractory quality:

1) The working layer is in direct contact with molten steel and is the key part. The masonry materials of the working layer are semi-siliceous, high-alumina, zircon, or siliceous, magnesia, and forsterite insulation boards; or magnesia, magnesia-chromium and magnesia-calcium coatings or castables Wait.

2) The tundish nozzle block is inlaid at the bottom, which belongs to the weak part of the tundish. Usually high-aluminum high-temperature resistant materials are used.

3) The working layer at the bottom of the tundish is easily damaged by the direct impact of molten steel, and requires corrosion resistance and wear resistance. High-strength tar magnesia bricks, high-alumina bricks, and aluminum-chrome bricks are mainly used. Zircon bricks are also used in the molten steel impact zone.

4) The tundish cover is covered on the tundish to keep heat and prevent molten steel from splashing. Usually, clay or high-aluminum refractory castable material is used as the cover.

2. Production organization and operation level:

1) The molten steel level of the tundish should be stable or not fluctuated during the production process; the production organization requires that the production volume of the converter and the continuous casting production should match normally, and the excessive fluctuation of the molten steel level caused by the untimely continuous casting of the molten steel should be avoided. Hazards to the tundish lining.

2) The temperature of the molten steel to the continuous casting platform should be reasonable, to avoid the scouring of the tundish lining due to overheating of the molten steel; the harm to the tundish lining caused by the too low temperature of the molten steel to permeate the tundish with oxygen and increase the temperature should be avoided.

3) Tundish structure: The continuous casting tundish adopts the structure of retaining wall, dam and turbulence controller, which not only makes the molten steel flow reasonably in the tundish, but also facilitates the floating of non-metallic inclusions in the molten steel, which improves the quality of the molten steel. the service life of the tundish.
