Three common methods to reduce high temperature corrosion of magnesia carbon bricks
1. Use high-quality materials with stable components to improve the material's resistance to erosion, thermal shock, and structural spalling. High-purity and high-quality fused magnesia is selected because of its advantages, such as large grains, high density, low chemical activity, and high corrosion resistance. Increasing the purity of graphite can increase the slag resistance of magnesia carbon bricks.
2. Optimize smelting slag composition For magnesia-carbon brick, the content of MgO in the slag should be increased as much as possible to make the MgO in the slag reach a saturated state so as to reduce the dissolution of MgO, thereby reducing the chemical corrosion of the magnesia carbon bricks. Reducing the content of FeO or other chemically reactive elements in the slag can reduce the oxidation and other reactions of the slag to MgO and graphite.
3. Take external measures A protective layer is formed on the surface of the magnesia carbon brick by external means to prevent the magnesia carbon brick from contacting the slag, such as slag splashing to protect the refractories.
