1. The ladle cover has two types: water-cooled furnace cover and refractory furnace cover. Compared with refractory furnace covers, water-cooled furnace covers require much less maintenance. However, the energy loss of the water-cooled furnace cover is relatively large, especially for small ladle. It is reported in the literature that the loss of the water-cooled furnace cover is 12% to 14% for a large furnace with a capacity of 300t. On a small ladle furnace of about 40t, the loss of the water-cooled furnace cover is as high as 41%. Therefore, both energy loss and low maintenance should be fully considered in the design.

2. In order to maintain a good furnace atmosphere, reduce electrode oxidation and slag oxidation, and reduce the possibility of molten steel absorbing hydrogen and nitrogen from the atmosphere, it is best to make the furnace in a slightly positive pressure state.

3. A smoke hood is installed on the stove cover, and a smoke pipe is provided on the side of the smoke hood. There are also a number of dust suction holes along the top of the skirt and connected to the smoke pipe on the side of the hood. Adjust the valve plate to form two suction points in the furnace and at the skirt.
