Glass melting furnaces should follow the following rules when selecting refractory materials

1. According to the kiln design, the specified working environment and the reasons of refractory material burning and erosion to select and configure the corresponding refractory materials.

2. According to the designed service life of kiln , and the rate of burning and erosion of refractory materials used, select the refractory materials that meet the requirements.

3. When using, avoid the two different refractory materials that will chemically react together. If necessary, transition bricks or transition layers should also be provided between two different refractory masonry.

4. The refractory material used in contact with the molten glass, horizontal brick joints should be minimized to avoid horizontal erosion.

5. When building refractory materials, the refractory mortar required should be the same type as the brick.
