1. The slagging system of
LF refining is suitable for the production of refined ultra-low sulfur steel (S<0.002%) and ultra-pure steel, and its important role is
desulfurization.
2. CaO—CaF2 slag series (lime and fluorite are often used in
electric furnace refining, and have strong
desulfurization and deoxidation capabilities): the slag series has a sulfur capacity of up to 0.03 at 1500°C. In the CaO-CaF2 slag series, CaO The main function of CaF2 is to increase the alkalinity, and the main function of CaF2 is to reduce the melting temperature of the synthetic slag and improve the fluidity of the slag, which is more conducive to
desulfurization. The biggest disadvantage of this slag system is that it contains high CaF2. On the one hand, it corrodes the furnace lining faster and shortens the furnace age; on the other hand, it pollutes the atmosphere. At the same time, the fluorine volatilized in the metallurgical process will harm the health of the operator’s health.
3. CaO—Al2O3—SiO2 slag system/CaO—SiO2—MgO—Al2O3-(CaF2) slag system (white slag making, the most commonly used slag making in LF furnace): use white slag and inert atmosphere to protect, stir, oxygen, sulfur and Impurities will be easily removed. The reduction of (FeO+MnO≤1.0%) in the slag is sufficient, which is the prerequisite for
desulfurization and impurity removal.
